[ltp] problems with t42 and ati drivers

Hi alltogether,

I have some problem.
ATI drivers seem to work (sarge, kernel 2.6.10, XFree 4.3.0.1), but 
running glxgears or something else results in a usage of CPU power of 
100%!!! even just starting 'tuxkart' immediately uses 100%.


is this normal?
there are no errors or warnings in the XFree86 logfile, or in the 
bootmessages etc.
Thus, I do not understand that.

Any suggestions?
