I fear that because the water is in a pretty well sealed space all you will
have achieved is some nicely warmed water in a pretty well sealed space. You
need an air flow for the water to evaporate.

Yes, that would be correct. It is a "sealed unit with no customer serviceable
parts inside". imho that is quite sensible, because an incorrectly repaired
power supply can be such a danger. Understandably, IBM do not want to carry
the liability if some fool cooks his ThinkPad, or for that matter,
[him|her]self.

I agree with all the other postings which suggest that you should just buy
another one. However I can also understand that you might have considerable
difficulty obtaining one. I do not know anything about the internal layout of
the Power-Pack ( And I'm not going to open mine to find out - even for
someone from Linuix-Land - so sorry ) but from the look of my one you might
be able to open it by cutting aound it with a very fine saw in the slot where
the two halves join.

Take great care, and do not re-connect it to your computer until you have
established that it is giving out the correct voltage ( 16v ) when connected
to a suitable load. ( 4 ohms - 3 x 6volt/20watt car lamps in series )

If the volatage output is not very close to 16 volts or there is any sign or
smell of any burning having happened when you connected it before, do please
throw it away and get another one.
