I=20bought=20an=20R52=20in=20Holland=202=20months=20ago.=20I=20was=20*very=
*=20unsuccessful=20in
trying=20to=20install=20Linux=20in=20parallel=20with=20pre-installed=20XP=20=
version=20by
IBM:=20not=20only=20did=20XP=20refuse=20to=20load=20when=20grub=20was=20in=
=20the=20master=20boot
record=20(MBR),=20even=20the=20default=20NTLDR=20(Windows=20bootloader),=20=
together=20with
a=20dd'd=20linux.bin=20(containing=20the=20512=20bytes=20of=20the=20boot=20=
section)=20in=20the
C:=20partion=20refused=20to=20recognize=20the=20linux=20boot=20partion.=20=
Making=20recovery
discs=20(6=20CD's=20in=20total),=20reformatting=20the=20harddrive,=20reins=
tallation=20from
the=20recovery=20discs=20was=20of=20no=20avail!=20In=20the=20end=20I=20jus=
t=20gave=20up=20on=20the
preinstalled=20XP=20version=20and=20used=20a=20fresh=20XP=20installation:=20=
then
everything=20went=20fine=20(even=20grub=20in=20the=20MBR;=20actually=20a=20=
guy=20at=20work=20here
did=20it=20for=20me).

The=20morale:=20be=20prepared=20for=20a=20bit=20of=20frustration,=20or=20t=
ake=20the=20short
route=20(i.e.=20give=20up=20on=20the=20default=20installation).=20Anyway,=20=
this=20was=20my
experience.=20Great=20machine=20though,=20especially=20with=20linux=20(of=20=
course).
