I'm trying to get dma turned on for the dvd drive in my thinkpad T43. I
have followed
http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Problems_with_SATA_and_Linux#No_DMA_on_DVD_drive
.
hdc (the dvd drive) is no longer detected, meaning ide isn't hanling it.
my question is: what device IS the dvd drive now? i've tried everything
I can think of...
I see mentions of sg0 and sg1 in dmesg but i can't mount them or do
anything else with them as any user.
I have tried /dev dvd cdrom cdrw scd* sr* sg* sd* hd* . I run kernel
2.6.15.1.
Any ideas out there? It is VERY painful doing even basic read operations
with dma off.
