ACPI suspend and resume on a T43 works very well for me, with
the current Fedora Core 4 kernel:

$ uname -a
Linux lavazza.does-not-exist.org 2.6.14-1.1656_FC4 #1 Thu Jan 5 22:13:22 ES=
T 2006 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

The relevant portion from my grub.conf:

title Fedora Core (2.6.14-1.1656_FC4)
        root (hd0,0)
        kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.14-1.1656_FC4 ro 		\
		root=3D/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 rhgb 	\
		quiet acpi_sleep=3Ds3_bios acpi_serialize
        initrd /initrd-2.6.14-1.1656_FC4.img
		=09
(I suspect that acpi_sleep=3Ds3_bios is what saves me from the
hard disk problems. If you want a copy of my /etc/acpi
directory, let me know.)
