Hi Rich,
kismet should actually be able to set the card into monitor mode itself.
Have you tried that? If so, does it work?
I have an ipw2100 which *will* allow itself to be set to monitor mode =
with iwconfig, however it doesn't actually work properly unless kismet =
does it - i assume with iwpriv.
I haven't followed up on it because I use various atheros/aironet/prism =
chipsets (which all have properly working monitor mode) for wireless =
assessments - I only use kismet on the ipw2100 to find hotspots when I'm =
on the road.
Cheers,
Chris

Greetings All,
I recently bought a Thinkpad T42 and installed SUSE
10.1. The installation worked quite well and almost=20
everything seems to work.=20
However, I cannot seem to get the wireless card
(Intel IPW2200) to run in monitor mode for the
kismet program..
I have downloaded, compiled and installed the latest
IPW2200 module, but it still rejects the monitor=20
setting.=20
Is there some magic that can be done to solve this,
or is this a lost cause?=20
