No, not really. DMA is on by default with libata passthrough patch=20
(included in 2.6.16 if memory serves me right).

Did you turn SMART on? (smartctl -d ata -s on /dev/sda) Or, did you=20
specify to use libata interface? (-d ata)

Well, 5.36 works here quite fine.
