I regularly use a 600X adaptor on a T40p. The T40p's normal supply is
rated at 4.5A @ 16V (72W) and the 600X is (from memory) 3.5A (56W). It
works fine except that the screen flickers when the disk drive is
active - obviously not quite enough to power screen and backlight with
a spinning disk but fine otherwise.<br>

As other messages in this thread have suggested, this would indeed
be useful, if for nothing else than to determine which AC adaptors
can be used with which models. Might save money not having to buy a new
adaptor if you have an old one laying around.
I've used a 56-watt supply intended for a 770-series Thinkpad on an A31,
and without any apparent problems. I've been careful *not* to have the
battery inserted, though.
This is one instance where anecdotal evidence would be interesting.
