Never mind!

Yesterday I removed/purged tpfand and tpfan-admin. When I started
the TP today I was able to set different levels: From 1 to 3 speed
accelerates, on levels 4 and 5 is doesn't change compared to level
3, 6 and 7 are much faster than 3 but there's no difference between
6 and 7, full-speed is again faster than 6 and 7. With full-speed I
found that the fan stopped after I reset the level to auto. After a
while it speeded up again -- but it was the first time that the fan
stopped by itself (without the help of an external fan).

After I figured that all out with the help of you---thanks
again!---I still wonder how I can get a less aggressive fan
behaviour. It runs at quite low temperatures (CPU: 36°C, GPU 36°C,
HDD 38°C, MiniPCI 44°C). MiniPCI shows always the highest
temperatures. The fan of my wife's R60 doesn't even run at
temperatures around 50°C ...
