  Hey Gentlemen,

   I have had really great luck with Linux Mint ( Which of course is s 
shred of Ubuntu-> Debian). 4.0 support was great, 5.0 even in beta is 
freakin sweet. So far I've installed on many different ThinkPads. Albeit 
a bit older than the mainstream. Currently reading and surfing on my 
R40. Just my 2 cents.
