[ltp] debian on 600X

hi all

i'd like to extend the life of my trusty 600X (650mhz, maxed ram, etc) 
by moving to a light version of debian (xfce).

i've had a few different installations on the machine but i always feel 
like i'm not quite done nailing down the basics. this is specially so 
when it comes to the configuration of APCI and other installation 
options. lately, and only by default, i've been going with "install 
acpi-noriq" but i'm still not sure what this really means nor if that's 
the right install option.

anyhow, i'd appreciate any advice and comments from people running linux 
on 600Xs. thanks
