I don't think your problem is the HD. It should no longer be needed
after starting these programms. Any lag in webapps is usually caused
by the net, not the HD.

But the startup is limited by the HD. There are several different
ways to minimize startup times (log the boot process, kill unneeded
stuff, move often needed files into a preloaded squashfs, ...).
