Hi all,

This is my first post to this ML. (I have tried searching for this problem
in the archive but can not download the whole archive at the moment.)

Problem: Laptop heating up/high temperature. Trying to run fancontrol with
"disengaged" mode does not work.

System:

Thinkpad T60
ATI Radeon X1400
Dual Core Intel T2400 1.83GHz
Dual partition with XP and Gutsy

$ uname -a
Linux Thinkbaby-Ubuntu *2.6.22-15-generic* #1 SMP Fri Jul 11 19:25:33 UTC
2008 i686

As my battery is dead, currently, system is plugged in all the time.

Here are my sensor temperature (in degree C) [from tpfan]
Sensor 0 57
Sensor 1 38
Sensor 2 38
*Sensor 3 78
*Sensor 8 43
Sensor 9 52
Sensor 10 51

Fan speed: 3854 rpm (After "echo level 7 > /proc/acpi/ibm/fan").

But this is the maximum speed I can achieve using this method. If I try
using "disengaged" or "full-speed", it gets reset to "auto".

This state is when I am not even running any Compiz effects or any other
heavy duty app.

Any pointer would be really helpful.

Thanks!
