770z problems

The PS2 utility does the same thing as the Thinkpad Features/Utilities does,
but from a command line.  Do you have any way to test the serial port via
Win98 (maybe use hyperterminal to talk to a modem or something?)  When I got
my 600, there was a problem somewhere in the BIOS such that the hardware
checked out ok (EZ Setup Diagnostics), but nothing worked (hotsyncing a Palm
Pilot specifically).  A BIOS update fixed it..
