[ltp] Sound on TP 755CX

I'm sure this has been covered before... 
 
Running RH 6.1; can't get the sound to work. Booting with DOS 6.x, then
doing the steps as described in www.cleggies.freeserve.co.uk/thinkpad.html
but it's a no-go.
 
Do i need to recompile the kernel with support for a certain sound card
in?
 
I have recompiled the kernel earlier; I may have disabled some sound stuff
when i did that.
