I use ttcp to simulate network traffic between two hosts, and I always made 
my tests with a mixed incoming and outgoing traffic. Testing in and out
separately would certainly be interesting. Note that depending on the 
access point quality, these two concurrent traffics may not share 50% 
of the available bandwidth each, and in some cases, one kind of traffic may
completely block the other kind...
