MH> Did you actually generate the device node?

sara:~# ls -l /dev/thinkpad/

Yes.

MH> I'm just listening to music on my tp600e. I indeed use the snd-cs4236
MH> module.

Ok, module load perfectly, i still hear no sound but i think i've not
installed some needed alsa package, i've to do some deeper search.

MH> ps: I don't want to rush you -- but aren't you interested in testing the
MH> apm patches? :) Works well for me, but needs some testing (and
MH> confirmation) from other thinkpad users. Please contact me, if
MH> you're interested...

...if there's no risk to damage my hardware, yes, no problem at all. ;)

Infact i need some apm patches, i can suspend the computer, but the
screen remain lit (closing the lid or doing apm -s, the same).
if i try to standby (apm -S) the screen are shut off but the HD remain
working.

Relevant (i think) row of logs:

Ah, i've also:

Jan 25 21:40:07 sara kernel: Device 'mwave' does not have a release() function, it is broken and must be fixed.

?!

For the framebuffer... it was my fault, i've understood that in 2.6 the
framebuffer are only the low level framebuffer code, and the console
framebuffer are the console framebuffer. Obiouvsly. ;)

	CONFIG_FRAMEBUFFER_CONSOLE=y

but, as someone noted here some time ago, does not work. when i boot
the console framebuffer work as expected, but if i go back from X to
console, the screen are garbled, a very big font overlapping itself
make all the screen very unreadable.
