[ltp] Anyone have successfully installed Catalyst driver on IBM T43(ATI mobility X300) laptop?

I also have a x300 and i was cursing and swearing at ATI for stopping 
support for my 3 year old laptop...

this thread is in german, but maybe someone finds it interesting.

What i did by now:
use X's ATI compatible driver ("radeon" or "ati" - check your 
distri/Xorg) - performance might be bad on higher resolutions, so 
deactivate all unnecessary desktopeffects and funky themes if your 
windowmanager starts lagging.

KDE4 is pretty good at hotswapping displays.
If you need full control: use xrandr - very powerful, good man-page and 
as a shell command you can code one ore two scripts for your 
beamers/external monitors.
